Mexico

Kira and her friend Meredeth. The next picture is of Playa del Carmen. Iberostar has a sister resort and we visited it one day.

Christine, Kira and I went horseback riding one day. We visited the oldest town on the island.

Getting "cardio" with Justin

Welp here I am after the bike ride with Justin. I was lucky to be wearing a helmet. I am pretty sure my head would have had a similar road rash as my should if wasn't. I was wearing a shirt and helmet - Justin was wearing just enough to not be cited for nudity. Can't imagine how bad he would have looked if it had been him that hit the pavement. The skin nerves where you see the blood got trashed so it actually didn't feel bad as I was washing it out (I didn't feel anything) I write this blog 2 weeks later and shoulder is at the point the nerves are healing on the shoulder and that is pretty annoying, my wrist is still hosed which is the frustrating. Oh one other cool thing, I did some 'concusion' tests and found that it took about 2 minutes to remember the name of my road. My parents address kept trying to be my address in my mind. Other than that, it was a great ride and amazing day!

Justin Visits

During another amazing weekend here in Austin in the middle of WINTER, Justin and I went biking in the fields and land near the house.. in shorts and no shirt! The 2 pictures here are of a what think is the old railroad bridge built in 1930. Note how thick the steel girder is - about 12 feet! The timbers lining across it are decaying and falling apart - I deciced it wasn't for me and I went around the long way allowing me to get the great shots. It still amazes me how much history is within walking distance from the house (that is still visible).
Later on Justin convinces me we should bike on the road to get some "cardio"... Yeah thanks Justin! *see next blog*

Kira gets her tummy fixed

Feb 1st 2008. Kira went to surgury today for her developemental hernia. She was a trouper - if scared. We ended up using the versed to help her calm down and forget the whole thing. The surguy was over in less then 50 minutes. When she came to us she was still pretty out of it and weepy, she must have asked what the 'tube in her arm' was for more then 4 times... Ah Versed. Her favorite part - forgetting it happened.

the other project

This was Will's project over Christmas break. We had a large boring room right near the entry. It is the formal dining room. We thought we would spice it up and put some french doors in. So after searching the web and buying the home depot book (the how to one) we (and I mean Will) jumps right in. He had a whole entire week to get the job done and according to the book and web it should take about 2-3 hrs total. (extend the wall- hang the door AND drywall) well......I think it took 5 days! Bless his heart. We had a good time but MAN it was frustrating at times.

So now its my turn....to beautify....well I am on hold for the contractor right now! :)
I ll put up pictures when we get done.

Winter in Round Rock

WS: This weekend was awesome. High in the low 70s for both days. We got alot of staining done on the arbor - probably another 8 hours (maybe 2-3 more nice weekends).

Mason responded well to our first week of the responsibility chart. Amy really had the best week in a long time with him - still fighting the naps he really needs.... one step at a time. They got a trip to Chuck-e-Cheese on Saturday this week for the good behavior.

Sunday we had a picnic in our new favorite town - Goergetown. It is full of parks that are simple to access and kid friendly. This particular hike was the most challenging by far. Not for kids under 3. It was really cool though with slightly tough hiking and very near the edge of cliffs with big drop-offs to beautiful green water below. We got to see a school of >1ft long fish swimming to. It was a great time.

Next week is Kira's surgury for her developmental hernia. It should take about 45 min. Kira is scared off and on - but mostly she just wants the Chim-char we promised her for her being brave. At least we know we can always bribe them into whatever we need. ;)

Well, finally Will has started blogging on here. Hopefully we will have a more normal blogging going on with both of us helping. Can't believe we don't have christmas up yet - though we haven't quite returned all the throw back yet either. Look for it soon
